The HyFin® Chest Seal is a self-adhesive occlusive dressing designed for the treatment and management of open chest wounds caused by penetrating trauma, such as gunshot or stab wounds. These injuries can lead to an open pneumothorax, where air enters the chest cavity through the wound. The HyFin® Chest Seal utilizes advanced adhesive technology to create a superior seal, even in extreme conditions, preventing the development of tension pneumothorax—a leading cause of preventable death in trauma cases.
Measuring 6 x 6 inches, the transparent design allows for accurate placement directly over the wound, conforming easily to the casualty’s chest. The large red elliptical tab enables single-step peel-and-adhere application and facilitates "burping" of the wound if necessary to release trapped air. Packaged in a compact, rugged, easy-to-open foil pouch, each chest seal includes a gauze pad to wipe the wound surface prior to application.
Manufactured in the USA and 100% latex-free, the HyFin® Chest Seal meets or exceeds current EMS standards of care and TCCC & TECC guidelines for treating penetrating chest injuries.
